Kiyomizudera 清水寺 was the first temple we visited in Kyoto..And our 1st day in Kyoto was a raining day..The bus station is just located in front of the hotel where we were staying. All stops were clearly written with those popular temple's name..Just buy daily day pass at this machine..
This is the Bus daily Day Pass, JPY 500 unlimited stop, otherwise one way is JPY 220..
(Updated on 9th Jul- take bus no 100 or 206 from Kyoto bus station, stop at 五条坂 (there is a screen inside the bus to show you every stop name) . Cross the road to opposite and take the right turn when see a T junction.
The road leading up to Kiyomizudera is chawanzaka 茶碗坂, literally meaning “tea bowl street”. I can just admired on those beautiful plates and bowls, no way i can carry such heavy items to walk for a whole day..
After walked for a while and we reached the foot of kiyomizudera 京都清水寺. I saw many school students and i guess it was a school holiday at that time.

I also bought one of this for Lucas who will be taking UPSR this year, hope he can success in this exam ^_^

ReplyDeleteah i didn't get to go to this temple when i was there instead my japanese friend brings me to this Kinkaku-ji Golden Pavilion temple. i really wanted to visit this temple.

ReplyDeleteSo beautiful the temple - sonya may i ask you - did you tour japan yourself or with tour guide? Do you find it difficult to travel on subway without understanding the language?

ReplyDeleteWe were there during the sakura season (Apr 2007!), the street was crowded, and view was very different then, full of sakura!

Last time I went I also havent opened my blog & I remember seeing beautiful plates& bowls in 100 yen shops but didn't buy!

ReplyDeleteMia , we were on free and easy. In Kyoto , most tourist place can be reached by bus. But in Osaka, take sub way is most easy way. Not that difficult to understand their sub way system since we are able to read Chinese letter. And very similar to sub way in Hong Kong. Understand the sub way line and their colour, and the middle or final stop then you are on the correct line. If you have problem, you can ask the officer station there, they are all very friendly. They might not understand well in English, you can just show them the place name or write it on paper as they can understand on English writing more than English talking .

ReplyDeleteYee, yes of course I drink because I also very kiashu, see all drink and I also follow them..hahaha ..but the spring water was really fresh and cooling...

ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing, Sonia! My husband and I are planning for a trip to Japan too! I've never worried about the language, like you said, we understand Chinese. Plus, we have friends in Tokyo. What we worry the most is the food. Were you and your husband concerned about the food? We heard a lot of rumors, don't know if that is true. Regardless, we will go there, Kyoto. Again, thanks for sharing your trip with us. All photos are very nice!
