Fried Nian Gao with sweet potatoes 番薯炸年糕


If i would compare to the previous crispy fried Nian Gao batter recipe, frankly i prefer this latest recipe which requires less ingredients yet still resulted crispy Nian Gao.

This time i just use sweet potato only since i couldn't get good yam at that time.

Fried Nian Gao with sweet potatoes 番薯炸年糕

For the batter
125g plain flour
10g cooking oil
2tsp rice flour
155g water
A pinch of salt
30g sugar

20 slices sweet potato 1cm
10 slices Nian Gao 1cm

Method

  1. Steam sweet potato for about 10-15mins, almost tendered . Set aside to cool.
  2. Mix all ingredients for batter till smooth.
  3. Sandwich a slice of Nian Gao with sweet potatos. Coat it with batter.
  4. Deep fry in a wok over medium to low flame till golden brown and crispy.
  5. Serve warm

  1. Kuih bakul ni kan? teringat zaman kecik-kecik tiap kali CNY mesti dapat dr kawan2 parents. celup telur pastu goreng. kenyal kenyal sikit kan...rindunya..lama dah tak makan.. :)
