Chinese New Year Delights 2013_round up (8)

Frankly i have not reviewed all entries submitted to me, because i am very very busy making cookies, CNY preparation and compile the round up post..But i promised i will go through each of the post when i am free during CNY.
Here comes the round up (8), this time is 50 entries, so total now is 220 entries..i am still compiling new entries..

I have never get my hands trying any checkerboard related bakes like checkerboard cake. The other day saw this checkerboard cookies in an old magazine, immediate decided to try this out since this is a type of cookies quite seldom peoples serve it during CNY.

Crunchy Butter cookies 牛油小脆饼


The other day my younger sister requested me to make some butter cookies for her..As she was craving for butter cookies that not too strong of buttery and milky aroma, and importantly not taste too sweet. She use to buy this type of butter cookies from a CNY cookie seller but this seller is no longer supplying cookies. Luckily her "Ah Chi " (mean sister in Hokkien dialect) knows how to make cookies for her now ^_^

Chinese New Year Delights 2013_round up (6)

Looking at the good respond given to my CNY delights event. If i could make the round up posting look more organize and interesting, look something like this , then it will be perfect! And if i can have it organized by category, easy for you to seach for the recipe..Also make it a permanent platform for peoples to look for CNY delights. But I know i can only dream now, because i don't know how to customize this and have to use blogger which has limit option when doing posting! Anyway, i will try to think a better option after CNY if i can think of one..
OK, lets check round up (6), this time i have increased the number of post from 20 posts to 30 posts, so you have more choices to try before CNY.

Old fashioned Ji Dan Gao (传统烘鸡蛋糕) Kuih Bahulu

I have two traditional moulds that i must use in this CNY after i bought them for several months. One is this Ji Dan Gao (kuih bahulu) and another one is Kuih Loyang. I have attempted them several times for these two kuih and finally i settled with the recipe that suit to our family preference. Today let's see my kuih bahulu 鸡蛋糕..

Last time i don't appreciate pork knuckles or pork front hock, but when age catching up, i started to apprecaite them ^_^

Ice Cream Cookies (Meringue cookies) 冰淇淋饼干

I am sure a lot of egg white left after you made CNY cookies like example pineapple tarts..Save the egg white and aged for at least one day, and you can made this ice cream cookies (or meringue cookies). You can easily seeing peoples selling this ice cream cookies in the morning or night market, and the price is quite expensive. Why not try to make yourself ?

Creme Brulee

I have been quite busy for the past few days, experimenting with new CNY cookies, and this year I also starting to take small order of homemade CNY cookies..and realized that making cookies really take up a lot of times, so i actually not really hard working of promoting my cookies, because i afraid i can't cope with it ^_^..
Ya, today recipe is about Creme Brulee, a pudding that i wanted to try after i bought a blow torch a year ago..Finally i got an excuse to try out because i have many egg yolks left after making macarons..

Easy Sweet Sambal with Gula Melaka


You might thought that i did not like nasi lemak anymore since you did not see me cook nasi lemak so frequently. In fact, we are still enjoying nasi lemak, but we bought it from outside more often as we found a stall selling good nasi lemak near my area..
Anyway, yesterday i just cooked nasi lemak with this easy sambal recipe from my blogger friend Makcik Manggis and using the good gula melaka (palm sugar) given by Penang bloggers .

Year end countdown party in Penang, 2012 倒数夜


Penang was the last stop for Jessie to meet up bloggers during her short visit back home here. And just so coincidence my hubby has to attend a wedding dinner there, so i grap this opportunity to follow him and joined this countdown party at Eileen's house..We had a great time there , so many yummy foods that prepared by Eileen, Joceline, Mandy, Casey, Angie and San San...

Earl Grey Macarons with Cherry Compote Buttercream


How was your New Year celeberation? For us, we went up to north Penang to join a year end countdown party which organized by Penang bloggers. We had a wonderful night. But I will post this event a bit later because there are too many pictures to sort out..I also brought them some homemade Siew Yok ( roast pork) and this macaron.
I was busy and keep doing macarons for the past two weeks. This is because some of batches I did were failed and with my never give up spirit, i keep experiment it and now I have more confidence to make nice macarons..Frankly, I don't appreciate macarons because they are too sweet for my liking, but  I like to make them because i feel proud when i have beautiful macarons ^_^ and also there is demand (my niece, my daughter and her friends all like macarons). I also like to admire their nice skirts..
