Terengganu, Final Part, Sata

This is another traditional food you may found in Terengganu, Sata.

Sata is made by pounding together fish meat , grated coconut and herbs. It then wrapped in banana leaf and grilled over a charcoal fire, very similar to otak-otak.

I managed to take few photos on how the owner process the Sata. But I forgot to take the actual appearance after opened the leaf, rushing to eat...

The taste was very nice and price is cheap too (RM1 for 3pcs) ..You should try this when you have chance to visit Terengganu.

Terengganu, Part 4, Tasik Kenyir

Beside enjoy and relax at the beach and swimming pool at Awana Kijal, we decided to see around and we went to Tasik Kenyir. Tasik Kenyir is the largest man-made lake in South East Asia. The journey from hotel to Tasik Kenyir took us about 2.5 hours, very very far and tired. But all tireness gone after we see the nice lake scenery. The lake scenery is similar like Lake Toba in Indonesia.

Terengganu, Part 3, Kedai Kopi Hai Peng

This is a Kopitiam at Kemaman-Chukai you must not miss. Their specialty is Hainanese coffee, roti kahwin and and a variety of local foods. You will be surprise their customers are from all walks of life. But the price they sell here is quite similar to KL's price, not really cheap but good for value. This shop is just about 20mins drive from Awana Kijal Resort, very convenience if you staying at this resort.

1) Bungalow shop house

2) A variety of local foods place at front portion of the shop. You can just pick up whatever items you like to eat from here.

3) You must try this Nasi Dagang, very nice. Rememer to add the tuna curry sauce which place at center. I dont know there was curry sauce to be added, I just eat plain but the taste still good.

4) Hainanese coffee and roti Paun ( similar to roti kahwin, spread butter with kaya). The bread is very nice, not too dry and fresh, my daughter like it so much.

5) Fried Mee Hoon, plain but yet delicious.

6) My favorite Nasi Lemak, if they use banana leaf to pack, it would be better.

7) I'm not really know how to pronounce this, remember something like " Tapai".
Very special taste, like sweet wine. The leaf they use to pack is special too, Rubber tree leaf.

8) I like this Rooster basket very much.

9) The shop is full of peoples especially during morning.

Terengganu, Part 2, Stuffed crabs

A visiti to Terengganu Kemaman-Chukai around, you should not miss the chance to try the specialty of this area: stuffed crabs.
This dish is made of a mixture of crabmeat, onions and parsley that are packed into a large emptied crab shell. The stuffed shell is then deep-fried (with egg ) or bake (with cheese). I take this opportunity to try stuffed crab at this restaurant, the taste is ok but it would be better if they fry it on the spot but not fry first and served later, not hot enough.
Nancy and Twister, you may want to try this recipe, very simple but yet a bit tedious as you need to take out fresh crab meat.
