Stir-fried Fennel with Pork belly

The other day i bought this cheap fennel from Tesco before i figure out what to cook with this new veggie. First i try to taste the raw fennel, it has very strong taste than leek or celery, i don't know how to describe the taste..Thus i came to this idea using sweet soy sauce to reduce the strong taste..

After cooked, the fennel taste became mild and since i just had it quick stir-fry, it was crunchy and sweet..not bad the taste. Anyway, my kids were not appreciate this veggie much..

Pork Belly is my favourite :-), if I loves celery, I guess I would loves fennel too! Frying it with sweet soy sauce would makes this flavourful. I still have much to learn to cook frying dishes in terms of adding sauce ingredients.

I love fennel! And I always have a bulb or two in my fridge. It turns sweet once it's cooked and less fibrous than celery. This dish sounds simple and delicious too! I mostly put it into my quickie pastas :)

pity your kids didn't liek it! I think of the taste and smell as very aniseedy, so I liken it to using star anise, which goes very well with pork (think five spice), so this sounds like a great great combination to me! so super yummy looking too!

I usually remove the pork skin for dishes as it is 'tough' to chew. Its alright for long stewing though. Thanks for sharing.

Great bargain! Sometimes we can get very cheap offer for the final stock batch such like imported berries. I always eyeing on them once I shop at Tesco or Jusco. haha.... I actually go to smell the fennel at Jusco (acting like Mr bean! haha...)Yes,it smell like celery but stronger.
However, good try! Enjoy your weekend, dear.

How wonderful! I love fennel bulb but I just realized that I only use for western cooking and never made anything with Asian flavor! I would love to stir fry with pork belly.. yum. It's probably one of the dishes I'll love because of my favorite ingredients!
