Beef Rendang
Today i cooked Beef Rendang and serve with my favourite Ketupat daun palas(It is made from glutinous rice that has been wrapped in a woven fan palm (Licuala) pouch and boiled). Now is the best time to cook these dishes as the local wet warket is flooded with all herbs and ketupat leaves since Hari Raya (Muslim festival) is just around the corner.
I even made Kerisik (toasted coconut) from the scratch..just fry fresh coconut in a pan (without oil) till fragrant and golden brown..
This time I use pressure cooker to cook this rendang, quick and save time. Thanks to my SIL Annie given me this good gift.

Hi Sonia,
My family will never say no to any kind of rendang:)Just to let you know that it's not a good idea to make chicken rendang in pressure cooker unless you are using 'old chicken' or kampung chicken as they are very prone to fall apart ( it happened to me...lol!).Love ketupat palas too!!Looks like you are celebrating raya way ahead of us...hahaha.
I like the beef rendang sell from Malay stall...
Amazing and excellent snap.
You are joining in the festive season too.... Beef rendang, one word, Delicious!
Yummy! I can have rendang any day.
I've never heard of this before, but I am impressed. You toasted your own coconut too? Very very cool. I've never even bought a fresh coconut. As much as I adore it, I have only ever bought shredded coconut in the bag.
you fry your own kerisik too? i just get that from stalls and i'm sure your own kerisik will be much fresher and better!
Delicious rendang!! I wish I can try it! Today my son teachers will show them how to make ketupat too. Anticipate your ketupat!!
wow! you are amazing!!! Cant wait for more info in your next post but this catches my eye. Good for me to compare how rendang are made compared to the recipe that i used recently!
I don't cook beef in my household so I can only salivate over your beef rendang. But good thing you still have chicken rending recipe to share, heehee.
Sonia, I've learned from my Malay SIL how to make the ketupat shell(square ones) many years back but have forgotten all about it already. haha... So, you also celebrating RAYA! Open house? hehe.... Your rendang looks so inviting.
Hope you're going to enjoy the school holiday too. Ya, also momsie's holiday! ha...
