Rice Cooker Salted Chicken

Chicken 1.5kg ( I use kampung chicken)
Salt 1tbsp and 1tsp or to taste
Chinese wine Tiew Heng 绍兴酒 2tbsp
Chinese herb Tong Kuai 当归片 20g (you may omit this if you don't have it, maybe you can replace with black pepper)

1. Soak Tong Kuai herb in Tiew Heng wine for 30mins.
2. Rub salt over the whole chicken, and Tong Kuai and wine, set aside 2hours.
3. Place chicken in a rice cooker and also the mixture, and cook.
4. Cook for 30mins or till cooked.

My note: Once cooked, it came out some juices, after cut the chicken into small pieces, either you can pour juices on chicken or just add to white rice, yummy!!

Happy Cooking !!

Interesting! I didn't know we have use the rice cooker to cook the chicken. Just add in the chicken without water huh? Any type of rice cooker would work?

汁直接倒进电饭锅吗? 这样煮,电饭锅不会焦吗?

Gulmohar,you are welcome.

Colin, reduce half if one chicken is too big for you and Faye.

Pete, quickly try out.

LCOM, yes, any types will work.

Rachel, ya, no problem, if cook small qty.

somewhere to SG, not sure ler.

Ju, hope you will like it.

Sze Sze, after tried, let me know ya.

Happy homebaker,you are welcome.

Sulianmummy, Happy trying.

tigerfish, get whatever size of chicken which can fit into your current rice cooker, loose cut chicken pieces also works.

mimid3vils, it will come out with some juices, and little burn it is ok, better aroma.

Ur rice cooker is the type where u put water underneath the pot one is it???
I saw this Khind Stainless steel rice pot in Jusco before. Put water underneath and use like a double boiler for rice. Is urs like that?
Bcos I suspect conventional rice cooker cannot do this leh...

Sonia ~ Nasi Lemak Lover said...

Wendy, oh, you mentioned that one is Khind automotive rice steamer RCS518, mine one is normal Khind rice cooker but with stainless steel inner pot-Anshin Rice Cooker with Smart Switch RC 118M,http://www.khind.com/product_list.asp?cat1ID=18&cat2ID=23&cat3ID=53#. So dont suspect, this recipe work well with normal rice cooker.

Gosh the last time I made salted chicken was years ago..... I have to throw away the wok after making it as it was all rusty. My mum-in-law taught me this.

Hi I was browsing for reviews for this anshin rice cooker and found your wonderful food blog :) I am actually considering to bring this to college to use it as a multicooker, wonder if it is possible to stir fry noodles or rice without having them stick on the bottom of the pot since it is not a non stick pot. Would you mind to share more of your experience on this rice cooker? Thanks a lot.
