Thanks Wendy for pointed out this mistake, actually my mom also not really sure what is the actual name of this veggie, she just agak agak (thought) is cucumber's leaves.. sorry..
-This Chayote shoot is not easy to be found in the supermarket, usually my mom helped me to buy from pasar pagi (morning market). Just simple stir fry with oil, chopped garlic and ikan bilis (anchovies), seasoning with salt, so no recipe I can provided here.
-Believe me, this tasted is good, crunchy and sweet !! Simply yummy!
Happy Cooking !!

I've not seen this veg before! Looks really yummy, and the stems remind me of kangkung stems.
Haha, Sonia u betul betul Hokkian, coz orang hokkian used to stir fry vege with ikan bilis. :) I have not seen the cucumber leaves before.
Don't think i seen this b4...
haha ... never see the cucumber leaves before ^_^
the combination of cucumber's leaves and spiral tendril is so special.. nice one there!
simply delicious! haha... i like ikan bilis on vege tough... add another dimension to the vege! I sokong hokkien dish! yum!
This is good, crunchy & fresh.
I'm sorry to say that it is not cucumber leaves
In Malay it is called pucuk labu. It is actually the shoots of chayote 佛手瓜. The tendrils are used by the shoots the climb around, so it is not a combination.
In Chinese this vege is called

When you are in Cameron Highlands, you can easily spot these growing beside the farms, along the cliffs besides the leafy vege.
This is also nice when cooked in a spicy coconut milk broth, just like fern shoots(pucuk paku).
I have never tried this but it looks so green healthy and delicious.
Bright and a beautiful stir fry. Looks splendid!
Sonia,
I agree with wendyywy, it is the shoots of chayote. We often cook it with sambal prawns. :)
I have never tried this but it looks so green healthy and delicious.
I've seen this type of leaves back in California farmers market but not here. I never knew it is cucumber leaves. If you have a chance to try sweet pea leaves do try it out. They are really good in stir-fry.
The color of your dish is very striking. It looks delicious and is so easily prepared. I hope you are having a wonderful day. Blessings...Mary
Never seen the cucumber leaves here...I am not sure I had them before. Great clicks!
Think this is called 'Loong sou choy'. You can get them in Cameron Highlands. It's tasty if you fry them in sambal belachan too.
Looks good, I don't think I can get cucumber leaves here, first time seeing it.
Interesting veg never eaten or cooked with it before.
I ate this before at Cameron Highland 's restaurant. They just simply fry with garlic it also taste very delicious.
I have no idea this is called cucumber leaves but I do like them a lot!
Wonderful color! Looks so healthy and fresh!
I have tried this in Taiwan before. Not bad. Just have to make sure it is not to fibrous.
we have plenty of chayote fruit here but no leave avaliable..maybe I should look in Asian market..the leaves look so fresh and green.I bet it's must taste good and healthy!!
Sonia,
Hey Sonia, I have not tasted Chayote shoot before leh.(frog in the wall, lol!) But your vegetables looks really fresh and yummy. Thanks for the recipe, at least I will know how to cook Chayote shoot next time. :)
I've never cook this before! I think the Malay loves it very much. I definitely will try this when I found some later! Thanks for sharing. Have a nice day!
Cheers, Kristy
Never tried this green before, though we also use cucumber leaves to make dishes :-)
Is this the same as Chayote squash?
Dear all,Thanks for stopping by, and sorry for the confusion made of the name.
Bo, ya, should be the same.
I've never eaten this vegetable before. Learned something new today!
This Chayote leaves looks tasty. I would love to try cooking it too. May I ask which pasar pagi does your mom go to? is it in PJ?
My mother-in law grows them in her garden. They are very tasty. I like to saute them w/garlic and fish sauce
