Yap Kee ( 叶记),Klang- Banana leaf rice

If we think to take banana leaf rice, we will first think of Yap Kee, Klang. This shop is very popular to local especially older generation and it has been there easily for 20-30 years !! This shop really truly reflect One Malaysia spirit, Chinese taukeh (owner), Indian cook and customers are Malay, Chinese, and Indian.

-This shop is very packed during lunch.

IMG_2866

-First, they will place a big banana leaf on the table and serve you some stir-fried tumeric cabbage (they only serve one type of veggie, no other choice !!)

IMG_2854

-Then followed by white rice.

IMG_2856

- And gravy- either fish or chicken curry

IMG_2859

-Add Indian cracker (papadum).

IMG_2862

-You can choose to top up with fried fish with curry powder (sorry for the poor quality of photo, too many peoples look at me when i taking photo, I'm too shy, so loose control of the camera setting, hehehe..)

IMG_2861

-Or to have a very nice piece of fried chicken with curry powder.

IMG_2865

They also have very nice mutton curry, we didn't order this time.

I don't have the exact address of this shop, the shop is located opposite the famous under the bridge bak kut teh, Seng Huat Bak kut Teh. And they only operate during lunch time.

Baby Seafood Restaurant, Batu Belah Klang

This is one of my family's favourite restaurant, Baby Seafood restaurant, Batu Belah Klang (I just wonder why their restaurant name called as"Baby"?), and just 5mins away from my house. This restaurant very famous among locals. They serve very good Thai & Chinese food at very reasonable price.

-no fancy menu provided, you just look up at this big white board, and order the dishes !!

IMG_2119

-no fancy cutlery provided..

IMG_2120

-Everyone come here sure will order this signature dish, Thai style of steamed fish !! I love this dish very much, sour, sweet and spiciness (comes from dried chilies, birds' eye chillies, lemongrass, sour plum, salted vegetables , pickled garlic, ginger galangal and lime leaves). While I writing this, also salivating, hahaha!! Furthermore, this is served in a special charcoal steamer.

IMG_2132

-They will serve you extra broth, time to time you need to refill the broth as the broth will dry up pretty fast in charcoal steamer.

IMG_2128

-Usually I will specially order a plate of meehoon to add into steamed fish

IMG_2122

-Another signature dish- fried stuffed chicken wings, simply yummy !!

IMG_2124

-Corn flakes mantis prawn, normal only

IMG_2136

-This Thai style of fried rice is a must order dish whenever we visit this restaurant. Mix the fried rice with sambal belacan, adoi, Heaven !!

Chung Kok_for a cup of "Kopi O"

I feel I have a responsibility to introduce some good places and good foods in Klang to you all since I living here.
This busy coffee shop opened for business more than 50 years ago, getting a table is a waiting game in the mornings.
That's why I waited till now only I make my way to here for their Hainanese Kopi O (black coffee with sugar" and my favorite Nasi Lemak.

- Hainanese Kopi O- "drink at your own risk"
-charcoal-toasted bread
-Chung Kok
-see the crowd in the morning...the good thing here is, it is "Tanggung Halal", Malay members also can enjoy truly Hainanese coffee here.
-I heard the owner had tried out several nasi lemak sellers and to pick the tastiest nasi lemak.
-This nasi lemak is just ok and normal for me, quite a mild version, not up to my standard, you know me, I like hot and spicy food...
- Just like to share with you the old buildings around this area

Chung Kok Coffee shop is opposite the train station on Jalan Station, Klang.

gang dinner at Gold Leaf Village Klang

Once in a month I will have "gang" dinner with my previous office colleagues (my lunch partners in the office last time). Last month, we went to this restaurant which recommended in Axian's show, and it just nearby my house..not sure what to order, so we told the waiter to give us those dishes recommended in Axian's show.

-sweet and sour pork rib, normal only..

_Kuala Selangor sytle of fish, very home cook style of fish.

-butter prawn, normal only..

- quite a special dish, deep fried sweet potato leaf (not too sure because the leaf tasted like biscuit, can't differentiate), to dip with cuttle fish sauce..

-another special dish, deep fried salted egg yolk pumpkin, this is very nice..

- I brought a home baked cotton cheese cake for the gang...

** We feel the dishes served here are quite normal only..except deep fried sweet potato leaf with cuttle fish sauce and deep fried salted egg yolk pumkin, worth to have a try..

Batu 8 Kapar Seafoods Restaurant

Sometime I need to show you what meals I taken in outside restaurants, otherwise it will be too boring just talking on the same topic of what I cooked and baked right?

This is our usual seafood restaurant and it is located very near to my house.

-My favorite crab, very nice stir-fried salted egg crabs

- Lucas's favorite butter prawn

- My husband's favorite steamed Lala (clams) , that day the lala was a bit small, sometime they do have big lala. The stock was so sweet and contains very strong wine aroma. My husband even said this is better than that one serve in Lala Chong Seafood Restaurant.

- Our favorite Salted Pepper Mantis prawn

- normal stir-fried " Shi Cai Choi", tapioca leaves

- This restaurant is situated right inside the kampung, quite hard to find if you are not familiar with Klang
