Sandwich Nian gao or Chinese steamed sticky rice cake with sweet potato and yam then deep dry is one of the most popular snack during or after CNY in old days. When i was young, my mother always prepared this snack for us. My mother only used the simple plain flour batter. But this time i am sharing this recipe using many type of flours to create a crispy crust of Nian Gao. I tried this recipe as it just happened that i have all these flours on hand.

Two ingredients Pizza Dough 简易比萨饼皮
This is an amazing pizza recipe, only requires two ingredients (self-raising flour and natural yogurt), still tasted like pizza. The texture is like soft bread but without chewy texture like bread. Furthermore this recipe doesn't require to proof the dough, so quick and easy.

Homemade Caramel Popcorn 爆玉米花
Before the party, i checked with my son what he would like to have in his Birthday party. He requested this caramel popcorn. When I making this popcorn, remind me of an invitation came to me few years back as to invite me to appear in a TV morning program to teach how to make popcorn. I was shy at that time, so I turn down the invitation ^_^.

Curry Puff (Karipap) 咖哩角
If compare to earlier spiral curry puff, this simple method of curry puff (it is a small pie consisting of specialised curry with chicken and potatoes in a deep-fried pastry shell) not tasted flaky but it still tasted slight crunchy after cool down. Anyway, this curry puff is much easy to make if compare to spiral type.

Galloping Horses (Ma Haw) , 骏马旺来~~欢喜过马年
I have never prepare an appetizer for CNY eve dinner before. This year I got this idea to prepare this Thai appetizer "Ma Haw" for CNY eve dinner after first tasted this yummy appetizer at the Erawan Tearoom Bangkok on my short visit to Bangkok last month. And the English name "Galloping Horses" also perfect for this Horse year. I also give a nice and prosperous Chinese name for this appetizer as 骏马旺来. 骏马 refer to a fine horse whereas 旺来 for Hokkien people like me refer to "Ong Lai" or pineapple which also one of the ingredient in this appetizer.

Choon Pniah ( Nyonya Egg Spring Roll ) 娘惹春餅
Thinking to join Alan Travelling Foodies's MFF Penang event, but I have cooked few Penang foods before like Penang Assam Laksa , Penang prawn noodles (a very old recipe, will re-port if I cook this again) and Ju Hu Char ( never post this before), so I don't want to sharing the same recipe..
I went through the old Flavours food magazines and I found this Choon Pniah (Egg Spring roll) recipe shared by Theresa Goh. The earlier yummy crab laksa recipe is from her too. She is come from a Peranakan family in Penang. I like all recipes shared by her, going to try out more her recipes in the future.
