Mung Beans and Pumpkin Tang Yuan dessert soup 南瓜汤圆绿豆糖水

Mung beans soup is one of our family dessert soup. The other day i tried to add some Tang Yuan (glutinous rice balls) that using leftover mashed pumpkin, glad that it turned out nice. The pumpkin Tang Yuan has QQ texture, not bad at all !

Pumpkin Bagel 南瓜貝果

Maybe some of you have noticed that i very often making bread nowadays, rather than bake cakes . This is because we try to reduce sugar intake and also my daughter is now staying at the hostel of her campus, less family members at home to enjoy my bake. So i rather baked more breads, so we could enjoy from breakfast, lunch till dinner.

I saw a local actor's Ah Mah (grandmother) shared this steamed pumkin kueh in a Hokkien cooking TV program. I know her kueh must be tasty, and I tried it out, it was so good !

Fu Shou Quan 福寿全 (Vegetarian Buddha Jumps Over The Wall ) ~喜气羊羊 2015

Today is Chap Goh Mei (CNY day 15th) , last day of CNY. I chosen to cook this healthy vegetarian version 养生素菜 of Buddha Jumps Over The Wall 佛跳牆 to end  CNY 2015. Recently i got to know the name of this vegetarian Buddha Jumps Over The Wall called as Fu Shou Quan 福寿全, a very auspicious name.

Fig and Pumpkin Seed Cookies 无花果南瓜子饼干~喜气羊羊 2015


My family learnt how to enjoy dried figs from a hiking member. He gave us some dates, dried figs and nuts in order to build up our stamina while hiking. We enjoyed taking those nuts especially the figs which has gummy texture and kids enjoyed the sweetness.
So, I try to create a recipe using dried figs to make some Chinese New Year cookies since my family appreciate the figs. I also added in some pumpkin seeds to make these cookies into nutritious cookies.

Finally I have used up the big pumpkin ^_^. I made this pumpkin loaf two days ago. I still used my preferred recipe which using cold milk, no egg and less butter. I also added some walnut in this bread.

The first time I had Churros (Spanish doughnut) was in Gold Coast Australia, and I also made it at home but it was four years ago. Recently my kids told me that they have so long didn't have churros. So this time I made into pumpkin flavour since I still have a big piece of pumpkin in the fridge.

My friend Jane so nice sent me some gula Melaka (palm sugar), my first thought was to make some ondeh-ondeh. Since this month LTU event is all about pumpkin, so I use pumpkin to make the dough and fill up with palm sugar.

Yesterday after we have dinner at Bangsar, then we went to nearby Jasons food hall to get this Chorizo which is a new ingredient for me. Today i used this chorizo and add pumpkin to make into pizza. I got this new inspiration after watched the Australian masterchef TV program.

Pumpkin Rose Buns 南瓜玫瑰形馒头

At first I was planning to make normal mantou or steamed buns with pumpkin. While the dough was resting, suddenly I think of the rose shape of buns that I have been wanting to try out. This dough is easy to handle and I am glad that these rose buns turned out so good that it gone finished at the same day ^_^.

Marble Pumpkin Talam / Kuih 大理石南瓜糕

When I first tasted this pumpkin kuih, it reminds me of the corn talam or kuih that I used to eat when I was young. This talam or kuih is best to serve while cold, very refreshing indeed!

In the recent missing MH370 flight, let me realized that we have to 活在當下  (appreciate every moments that we have now !! ). Lets us pray for all the passengers on board this flight and have a safe return..

The other day I got a small good looking pumpkin from wet market, the seller told me this pumpkin is planted here but the species is from Taiwan.

Chestnut and Pumpkin Bread Rolls 栗子南瓜麵包捲


In order to clear the leftover pumpkin and a pack of roast peeled chestnut that have been sitting there for too long and going to expire, so I bake this chestnut and pumpkin bread rolls the other day. After did quite a number of breads recipe, I am able to use the basic bread ingredients to come out my own bread recipe. I noticed that recently it is so fast to proof bread dough (about 30-45mins), due to recent hot and warm weather.
