Okonomiyaki 大阪烧, Osaka Japan

I have yet to update finished Kyoto trip, but i would like to jump to Osaka first, as I would like to share you an interesting video which i captured when we were taking Okonomiyaki 大阪烧 at Doutonbori street Osaka Japan.

When visit to Osaka, a must have item is this Okonomiyaki...We had our original okonomiyaki at Chibo okonomiyaki restaurant..

After we nearly waited for 20mins, then only they served us the okonomiyaki..I guess they need such long time to prepare because the okonomiyaki size is quite big and thick that enough for two persons..They brought the plain okonomiyaki without dressing and place on the hot place in front of us..and they started to drizzle mayonnaise..

I prefer homemade okonomiyaki as we can control the sauce in term of flavour and amount.

A look at your first picture I thought it was some kind of a shell fish. Bet it must be yummy as it looks.

It looks like the shell of scallop to me! Very pretty! My good friend in KL wants me to learn this so I can cook for her, hahaha!

Thanks for the step-by-step photos, very interesting to watch. Since in KL I think it's always prepared in kitchen and brought to us ready-made.

Hi Sonia,
they make with such special presentation in making okonomiyaki. It look like a clam shell so prettty.
There is small cafe here which make really nice okonomiyaki but they name it Japanese pizza. The owner is a young lady graduate from Japan.
Have a wonderful week ahead..:)

LOL!!! That video is amazing. I've never seen people do that so far away from okonomiyaki. That was fun clip. Store usually use more mayo so I like to reduce a little bit and I won't be feeling so guilty having 2nd or 3rd okonomiyaki (mine is not as big as store's). :)
