I have yet to update finished Kyoto trip, but i would like to jump to Osaka first, as I would like to share you an interesting video which i captured when we were taking Okonomiyaki 大阪烧 at Doutonbori street Osaka Japan.
When visit to Osaka, a must have item is this Okonomiyaki...We had our original okonomiyaki at Chibo okonomiyaki restaurant..
After we nearly waited for 20mins, then only they served us the okonomiyaki..I guess they need such long time to prepare because the okonomiyaki size is quite big and thick that enough for two persons..They brought the plain okonomiyaki without dressing and place on the hot place in front of us..and they started to drizzle mayonnaise..
Done with nice pattern..
Now top up with bonita flakes, we can top up as much as we like..
ok, the video i captured, see how they drizzle mayonnaise dressing...amazing!!
After tasted the original okonomiyaki, i feel my homemade okonomiyaki also not bad,^_^

好漂亮的pattern,看了好想吃咯!

I prefer homemade okonomiyaki as we can control the sauce in term of flavour and amount.
A look at your first picture I thought it was some kind of a shell fish. Bet it must be yummy as it looks.
cantiknya.... unik & kreATIF!
wow! i love this. Will try this out definitely.
Wow now I am hungry. Sadly I cannot watch the video our internet connection is too slow! Take care Diane
That okonomiyaki looks like a work of art ! And looks absolutely delish ! Yup , your own version looks great as well ! :D
Oh drools! I love okonomiyaki! The flavourful sauce & mayo with the cabbage, yums! I made this before and it's really not that hard. I believe u posted it before right. Thanks for sharing this, we are sure to check out this restaurant when we are in Osaka!
Merci pour toutes ces découvertes.
See soon
It looks like the shell of scallop to me! Very pretty! My good friend in KL wants me to learn this so I can cook for her, hahaha!
A simple dish became so sophisticated after the toppings ...looks so beautiful
Thanks for the step-by-step photos, very interesting to watch. Since in KL I think it's always prepared in kitchen and brought to us ready-made.
The first picture looks like a colourful seashell to me ...the pancake looks good.
Great “fusion” dish!
Very nice photos Sonia, you are a very good photographer!
How he drizzle the mayo is really cool!!
Sonia~~
日本的食物可算是一种艺术吧???
呵呵呵~~ 好想试试正宗的大阪烧呢~~~
what skill in making the pattern- it's like a seashell! If we ever visit the place, I know where I can go to enjoy this okonomiyaki!
Oh...is pancake ler...I saw photo and I thought it is a chocolate dessert. ***blur*** hee...hee...
Hi Sonia,
they make with such special presentation in making okonomiyaki. It look like a clam shell so prettty.
There is small cafe here which make really nice okonomiyaki but they name it Japanese pizza. The owner is a young lady graduate from Japan.
Have a wonderful week ahead..:)
mui..^^
Wow the Okonomiyaki looks so good... I guess its much better than the ones we find locally...
Looks so pretty. Must tasted delicious too!
Its really amazing the way they dressing the mayo on the 大阪烧!
Had this at Hartamas but it tasted a bit bland to me ~.~
LOL!!! That video is amazing. I've never seen people do that so far away from okonomiyaki. That was fun clip. Store usually use more mayo so I like to reduce a little bit and I won't be feeling so guilty having 2nd or 3rd okonomiyaki (mine is not as big as store's). :)
Nice presentation. The Japanese are very good at that.
i like the decoration .. nice..
