I have been to Ho Chi Minh Vietnam twice but have never been to Hanoi. When my hubby told me that he is going there for a meeting, i immediately said i want to "tumpang " ^_^.
We were staying around the Old Quarter area, Hoan Kiem Lake is a great landmark in this Old Quarter area. I had a leisurely stroll around this area by my own..
It is so easy to notice the french influence in the architecture here
this is a school
I guess these two buildings are government departments.
I saw few couples taking wedding photo here.
Another couple
Now i reached the Hoan Kiem Lake..
Nothing much to see actually..
Vietnamese children with their teacher
There is this little pagoda type structure that stands in the centre of the Lake but I wasn't sure what its significance was.
across the road from this lake, saw this huge statue..
This is the night view of this lake..

Hi Sonia,
tentu menarik di sana...
I was anticipating to see some Vietnamese yummy food as I love them so much....haha!
I've never been to Hanoi but looks interesting.
We were at central Vietnam specifically Danang and Hue in June this year and I like it. Check out my travel posts. :)

This is very lovely - you are making me excited about my Hanoi holiday next month! I wanted to give the French Qtr a miss but your photos show lots of architectural attractions. Looks like I am back to the drawing board to fit in this place. Thanks!
Lovely photos taken. Hopefully I have a chance to go for a holiday there.
2 yrs ago my husband asked me whether I wanted to go with him, I suggested to him that his father might want to go with him. So I stay home instead.hehe.... Next time ...next time I might want to follow. Thanks for sharing the photos and awaiting more to come.
I been to Vietnam once
I noticed that their buildings look very new!
Aww if only I knew you were visiting my hometown (: I'm a frequent reader of nasilemaklover, and I'd love to show you the hidden culinary treasures around HK lake!
Oh about the pagoda-like structure in the middle of the lake~~ we call it "Thap Rua", which translates literally as "Turtle tower". There's a humongous (i.e. >1m long) species of turtle that dwells in the lake. The occasions that they surface usually coincide with big events of the nation as well, so we consider them holy and it's extreme good luck if you spot them!! http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,2063308,00.html.
(Actually centuries ago the islet was for kings' fishing pleasure (!). Then some aristocrat built the mini tower there in remembrance of his deceased father. Then somehow the tower has become associated with turtles xD).
are the roses real?? I heard things a cheap in vietnam, is it true?
