A trip to Sungai Lembing, Pahang 林明游记 (Cuti-cuti Malaysia)

At first, I was planning to put this post title as "sunrise on bukit Panorama Sg.Lembing" . But we were not lucky enough to view sunrise, because the cloud was too thick, so no choice have to change this post title ^_^. Also give us another excuses to visit this place again. Now I realized that to view sunrise is tougher than to view sunset (we have nice sunset at Tanah Lot Bali). We have to woke up early morning (about 4.30am), climbed up to the hill top took about 45mins, and no guarantee you can have nice sunrise view.
Anyway, the beautiful 云海 (sea of cloud ) and hills scenery up at the hill is worth a visit..
We went here and staying a night during the school holidays recently.

Food_Kota Bharu Kelantan (1)

This morning when I read My Kitchen Snippet's Malaysian Food Fest (MFF) Kelantan Month post, and I realized that we have actually tried few of the dishes and kuih-muih that mentioned in her post. Today I would like to share these two restaurants that mainly serve local Kelantan foods. This plate of rice is Nasi Kerabu with white rice, thinking to try blue rice but I guess at that time it was out of stock.

Attended a Malay Wedding

Just like to share with you few photos taken when I attended a Malay wedding recently.

Extracted from wikipedia-

Bersanding
The bersanding (enthronement) ceremony begins with the groom's procession with friends, relatives, musicians and people waving bunga manggar (palm blossom) to meet the bride. Often various good-humoured attempts are made to waylay or stop the groom from getting to the bride. The main part of the bersanding involves the seating of the bridal couple on a dais and sprinkling them with yellow rice and scented water by family members, relatives and guests as a sign of blessing. Each guest will receive a bunga telur (egg flower), a decorated egg with a fabric flower, as a sign of fertility. The couple are considered royalty for the day, and so various royal customs are performed for them, including musicians playing court music and 'bodyguards' performing a display of pencak silat (traditional Malay martial arts).

performing "Silat" for the groom..

bunga manggar(palm blossom)

Each guest will be given a Bunga telur (egg flower). The egg is cooked with some traditional herbs, something similar to Chinese' s "Car Yeh Tan".

You will be served with some Malay foods and traditional cakes(kueh-muih), one of the dish that I like to eat is Fragrant fried chicken with lemongrass & spices.

This is the sitting area specially set up for groom and bride, with very nice decoration.

see this lovely couple..

The Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, Georgetown Penang

During my Penang trip, I took the the opportunity to visit one of the heritage site listed in UNESCO, unlike last time we always go to beach when visited Penang.
This time,we choose this Blue mansion to have a visit, this mansion won "2000 UNESCO "Most Excellent" Heritage Conservation Award..You really shouldn't miss this...visit the best ancient Chinese architecture in Penang which about 200 years old..

You need to go on a tour, about an hour, twice a day which covers the "Fengshui" or geomancy aspects of the building. But photography is prohibited unless you stayed in. Luckily my little son Desmond followed through the whole tour for an hour, this is not an easy task for a 5 years old small boy.

I noticed that we were the only local visitor among the foreign visitors, is this due to local peoples don't really appreciate our own heritage ?

.

-And you must remember to look up to see all these chinese ceramic shared decorations on roof ridges and gables, they are just awesome..

- Cheong Fatt Tze believed that there shouldn't any "T-junction" or "high building" block in front of their house according to "Feng Shui" concept, that's why he bought this piece of land in front of his house and built these five houses. These five houses currently turned to restaurant serving meals to visitors during their stay in this mansion.
