Just like to update of what we have eaten and visited for the 3 days 2 nights to Penang (the main purpose was to attend year end countdown party) ..
We stopped by Ipoh for a good lunch. We went to the famous Foh San dim sum restaurant. It is a huge place with two storey buildings..
We realized dim sum here tasted better than those dim sum around my area..
This dim sum taste is so special, full of difference taste, crunchy from cucumber, salty from chicken floss, sweet taste from mayonnaise..nutty aroma from walnut..
Restoran Foh San Sdn Bhd
51 Jalan Leong Sin Nam,
30300 Ipoh Perak.
After dim sum, we still craved for Ipoh white coffee..My husband suggested us walked to the coffee shop just located right opposite from the Foh San restaurant.
We had very nice iced white coffee..
And we continue eating, ordered a bowl of Hor Fun (flat noodles soup) and Curry Mee to share among us..Their curry mee in fact very good (with Char Siew and Siew Yok, thumbs up)!
The next day morning, I rung up to Eileen to check with her where can i find a place for good breakfast. She suggested Sai Toh Lim Koay Teow Soup 西刀魚丸粿條湯.
I like this dried Hokkien prawn mee, in fact Eileen was suggested me to order this ...
very nice fried dumplings ( i will imitate this recipe soon)..
And we had breakfast together with Jessie's family..

After breakfast, we went to Penang island, as we wanted to visit "Wall paintings" which located at World Heritage Unesco sites.
First we saw this wall drawing - "This Old Man"
And drawing - "Reaching up" ..I was amazed with this drawing, look so real !
And my favourite drawing - Little children on a Bicycle
You can see many visitors wating to take picture with these drawings..
I feel this wall also good for photography..
And drawing- Boy on a Bike
My son's action look so real right? ^_^
just next to it, is drawing- Little boy with pet Dinosaur
We did not visit all drawings, you can see other drawings in this link here
Also don't miss to visit drawings that worked by local artist..
We stopped by here to take lunch, and found very good beef noodles and O Chen ( oysters omelette)
And we found very good O Chen here..
this shop is located at the Lebuh Pantai lane and just opposite from Bomba station.sorry, i don't know the exact shop name and address..
And we also dropped by Chew Jetty..
Another wall drawing- Children in a Boat..
For who has yet to visit all these wall drawings, you better do it fast, because all these drawings started to fade out and the authority will not have it re-paint..
Thanks to this lady, she was so kind allowed us to visit her house...
My husband love this place and thinking whether can buy a house here, but she said one has to be with surname "Chew" only can stay here. Look like no chance to own a house here, hehehe..

哈哈哈。。偷偷告诉你,我没去过那个壁画的地方。嘻嘻嘻~
Hi Sonia, welcome to Penang. The original beef koay teow stall still exists at Weld Quay [already 1/2 century old]. The photo that has the 'Leong Say' sign at the top of the door indicates the surname of the people living in the house.
hi Sonia, thank you for this post. especially the photos on Chew Jetty, is full of emotion to see my birth place again.
oh, the drawings are so lovely! such a great talent!
i heard many times about great food in Penang
i have to put this in my to visit list :)
Oh....I really have enjoyed viewing your photos here....especially the paintings on the walls. Really beautiful and so outstanding. I cant remember when was my last visit to Penang....well it is time to pay another trip holiday there.
Sonia, Thanks for the pictorial tour of Ipoh and Penang. I really like the nostalgic feel of the old towns... Almost totally gone now in Singapore.
I love Penang! Been there 3 times already, but still wish to go back again, heehee! I only been to Ipoh once for the yummy food and also can't wait to go back too! Love love all those cute photos you posted, and the food all look so inviting too. Thanks for sharing with us! Btw, great to link up with you on FB! :)
Hi Sonia, first of all happy new year to you! I think the wall pictures are amazing! and your boy seems to blend in really well with the "kids" on the wall! Oh dear all the food in penang looks so delicious, i remember the last time i been there was more than 10 years ago!!! Thanks for sharing such lovely food again... ^_^
Wonderful post , Sonia ! I just love those life-like wall paintings - they look so awesome :D Thanks for the visual tour of both Penang and Ipoh ! All those scrumptious food just makes me hungry ! lol

Very nice local tour! I hear that Ipoh has got very good food. Was there when I was a little girl. Must revisit one day :)
哈哈哈!我也和joceline一样,还没去寻找过那壁画。
Those wall paintings are so nice..they really preserve this heritage.
Heard so much about Penang's food and its heritage but have not been there yet cos the air ticket from KK is expensive.
Looking at the Kampung air, it reminds me of my childhood.
All the foods looks good...
I visited some of the places u highlighted....i went during mid of Dec 12 :P
我跟joceline 还有eileen一样。。。。也没去过那个壁画!! 哈哈哈!!
看了你的分享。。。有想要去看看的冲动!!
看到好多的照片,
有机会真想去走走。。:)
Sonia~~
很遗憾!!我那趟去pg没去到壁画。。。
><
Thanks for your sharing. It make me feel proud of being Malaysian. We have lots of good food and interesting places to visit.
Happy New Year 2013...If you go to Ipoh for Dim Sum, I would like to recommed you to try the Dim Sum opposite Foh San, shop name - Ming Kok. For me, i prefer this more than Foh San..just a personal taste. Ming Kok famous for Char Siew Pau, Siew Mai, Fried prawan roll and many more..IF you like white coffee, Nam Chau is the best! Nam Chau is in old town..From Angeline
I also went to Foh San but didn't take photos of the food as we were too hungry & when the food was served, we quickly ate, hahaha! You have captured some very nice shots of the old side of Penang!
哈哈。。。那些壁画,我也没找完,只看了几幅!
Sonia, good to hear that you like Foh San's dim sum. I love it, we try to go there each time we go back to ipoh. The drawings are so interesting, i must drop by the next time we visit Penang,
I really enjoyed this post. I've learned so much about Malaysian cuisines from you and some other bloggers. Penang is one place I have been curious and want to visit. :)
Angeline, Next time if i visit again, sure will go to those places you recommended, Thanks.
Sonia, what a lovely catch of the day. The pictures are gorgeous. Love the one with swing. And the food looks ridiculously good. Miss the coffee when my last trip back home. :o( Everything make me drooooool. YUmmmm.....
Hope you're having a fabulous evening. My world went up side since the school reopened. Hopefully, will get use to it again soon. haha....
regards, Kristy
